we sit out and look at the water

as seals sun themselves 

on pointy rocks

yet totally comfortable 

seals look over at us blinking

hey what are you guys doing? 

they seem to say

we step into the water

and it’s so cold that we have to laugh

we stand on millions of little treasures

like a beautiful mosaic

gifts from the sea

we’re standing on a masterpiece 

together

and we breathe a sigh of relief 

for the wonderful day that surrounds us
