re birth re emergence

i see you have taken the form of the rabbits outside

and the cormorant outside also seems familiar

a goose held my gave a little longer than was comfortable the other day

a deer walked on my path

a hawk swooped in front of our car

i hear the tapping of a woodpecker outside and i knew

a school of fish in the local pond seems to be quite charmed when i look overhead

in never seems to fail that a fly lands on me when i practice tai chi outside

(which i find rather fitting in a way)

and sometimes i see a rainbow right when i need it

each instance takes my breath away for just a second

and i think maybe you all have been here before, haven’t you?

so i’m grateful to my guiding friends

who seem to pop up most unexpectedly

a fox

in a moment of magic

little beams of light

to deeply connect to the world in a way others can’t

asks the question

which way to go

directions

asks itself

there is no fear of choosing the wrong way

the world is an opportunity

yes it walks

stepping into the uncomfortable space

to be resourceful

to figure out a way

all that abounds

is playful laughter

awe

of aloha

how love

and spirit

how magic feels

life

like a mountain

like time

meeting love

and that feeling of freeness

breath

full of spirit

rising like mountain peaks

slowing time’s pace

to the expansiveness of dreams

newness

of vision

vast like the ocean

and how nature soothes

with a familiar call

dear mother goose

who showed up at the spa today

to give birth

to eggs in the barren planter by the jacuzzi

and to papa goose on the railing enclosing the spa

and to the little rabbit who scampered by later:

may i offer you some spa water?

i hope you feel safe

i hope you like the ambient music and happy hour trail mix available

i have to say — i’m concerned about your nest

they may have to move the eggs

i know it’s this really nice spot

i’m just not sure about it

do you know how honored we felt that you chose us though?

it was a special kind of moment

we know you weren’t to thrilled with us watching you from behind the glass

but we are thinking positively for you

and congratulations!

more confused than angry

more stuffed away than needing to speak

more afraid of meaning than feeling

more resentful than righteous

more betrayed than mistrustful

more disgusted than indulgent

more agitated

more disappointed

more hurt

more angry about the understanding than the experiencing

such a fleeting moment

it lingers longer than is comfortable

then is washed away by song

and sun

and tomorrow

my adventure

begins with a long road

i picture myself lifted up floating

i know i can do this now!

and my vision pierces through light and dark

like an arrow that doesn’t land

there is no end

spring time

waiting for the lady in the mountains

whose footsteps reveal the greenery

vibrancy

underneath and from the earth

whose voice echoes against rock and through canyons

who calls across distances to awaken

who stirs the blood with eyes like fire

who welcomes weary travelers with springs of water

who points the way and shows how momentum grows endlessly

waiting patiently until she reveals herself

and then there is only brightness and laughter

living in reality

there is nothing fake about the sun meeting the earth

it happens every day

sometimes you are fortunate enough

to see the synchronicity of wisps of clouds

weather bringing blue skies

cloudy skies

sometimes you are fortunate enough to see the moment when colors

where light collides and blends into itself

pink clouds

bright orange yellow sun in the sky peeks from behind dusty mountains

these are real things

real experiences

though you may think this is too beautiful to be real

here is the world

the world says to you every day

here i am

do you see me?

we look

we miss it sometimes

we try to take it in the best we can

we try to let it fill us

but there is so much more

and to call it fake would be a lie

to say it wasn’t real would negate so much

eons and eons

a lot of time goes into this

the stripes in the rocks don’t happen overnight

and the sun will look different tomorrow than it did today

there is nothing hard about this truth

and it’s not inconvenient

it just is

it will be whether we see it or not

watercolor sky

watercolor sky

the kind that delicately covers the earth with soft light

buildings weighed down by tired practices

they gleam

they shine to a different tone

and the way the cloud blanket looks today

we don’t know if it’s mountain or air

marveling at nature’s impromptu artistic impulse

as if it said

i think i will make the city a little more beautiful this evening

maybe for a moment we will look to the sky

and relish in the delight of being in awe

and graciously move toward one another instead of away

and wonder for a moment about the complexity this world offers

continously

light always changing

the painting becoming more and more

moving

it moves

and sometimes we notice that
