engulfed in flame

seemingly dangerous 

untouchable

burning is consuming 

radiates

like a hot furnace

you could reach out to touch it

but you would be burned

feel pain

it’s okay for you to be afraid

keep your distance 

keep back

keep it to yourself 

yellow bending orange

edged in blue

and yet hottest is invisible 

won’t feel it til it’s too late

you remember the phoenix?

what the bird does as it flies across the sky

sparks 

embers

trail off like whispers

trail of magic dust

what’s left when fire comes through

radiates out

open your eyes

and flames dance at the center

jewels that hypnotise

bring you in

before you too

are consumed by flame
